3-Day Summer Cycling Camp

July 18-20, 2008 - Bend, Oregon

The clinic begins at 8 AM on Friday, July 18th at Therapeutic Associates Central Oregon. Participants will receive the camp schedule upon sign in. Let us know if you are traveling via air when you register - we will arrange to pick you up from the Redmond airport (RDM).

Cost

$1090 per person. For groups of 3 or more, there is a $150 discount per person. Full refunds available prior to July 3rd, 50% refund available before June 20.

What is included in the camp price?

Cycling lactate testing and analysis, training zone development, lectures, ability group training sessions, group coaching consultation. The camp will include three beautiful fully supported rides in central Oregon with on the road coaching for riders of all abilities. Professional bike mechanic to show quick tips to common bike malfunctions.

What to bring

Clothing and equipment required for cycle training sessions including bike, bike shoes, helmet, cycling clothes, and weather protection for cycling in inclement weather. Bring comfortable clothing for the indoor lecture sessions and dinners.

Lodging

There is a large selection of places to stay in Bend. Make your own reservations please. The closest hotel to Therapeutic Associates, Inc. is Comfort Inn & Suites, 62065 SE 27th St. Bend, OR 97701 (541)-617-9696. And Ameritel. Ask for the TAI corporate rate.

Travel

The Redmond (RDM) airport is the closest available to Bend. Redmond is approximately 20 minutes from Bend. Rental cars are available at the Redmond airport and will be needed to get to and from the airport and to the various camp destinations.

Massimo Testa

Massimo Testa PhotoDuring the past 25 years Massimo Testa has been on the foredront of exercise science and medicine. He has trained and cared for some of the best professional and amateur athletes in every major sport, currently including Levi Leipheimer and Chris Lieto. As team doctor for the 7-11, Motorola, and Mapei professional cycling teams during the course of more than 15 Tours de France and Giro d’Italias, his experiences are unprecedented. He is currently running the Sports Performance Program at The Specialty Hospital based in Salt Lake City. He also trained Eric Heiden (5 gold medals in speed skating) while he was on the 7-Eleven Team as well as Steve Larsen while he was on the Motorola team. He is also currently working with Kristen Armstrong the top US female cyclist. All of these attributes make him one of the top sports doctors in the world.

Chuck Brockman PT, MPT, OCS, CSCS, ASTYM™, Therapeutic Associates Clinic Director.

Chuck Brockman Photo Chuck holds a Master of Physical Therapy Degree from Chapman University. He is an Orthopedic Certified Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Chuck has a passion for teaching cyclist how to train with power. He teaches bike fitting techniques to other health care professionals and lectures on topics related to training, and injuries related to running and cycling. He is an expert cycling coach and professional cycle fitter. Over the past 13 years Chuck has worked with a wide variety of cyclists from recreational to professional. He has been riding bikes his whole life and is a former road and mountain bike racer.

Katrina Vogel, PT, DPT

Katrina (“Kit”) is the Director of Education for Bike Fit Systems, LLC. She completed her clinical doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Southern California and her Masters of Science specializing in Biomechanics at Western Washington University. Kit teaches classes on the biomechanics of cycling and bike fitting throughout the country (PT Con-ed classes, SICI Cycling Science Symposiums, bike shops) and is active in research and design in the athletic and outdoor industries. She races for Byrne Invent (Track Cat 2) and has been a qualifier at the Elite National Track Cycling Championships. Kit comes from a fanatic cycling family with more bikes than cars.
