Occupational Injury Prevention and Management

Today, managers of employee health and safety (EHS) programs face increasing numbers of employees and risks. Therapeutic Associates’ Work Kinetics program offers a wide selection of customized injury prevention and injury management products and services designed to help EHS managers effectively reduce the risk of occupational injuries while efficiently managing the rehabilitation and return to work of injured employees.

Work Kinetics specialists are physical and occupational therapists with advanced training and certifications that have spent their careers treating occupational injuries. As part of our no cost, no obligation initial consultation, a Work Kinetics specialist will come to your site to review company injury/accident history, discuss the types of products and services that will best meet your needs, and summarize the programs and services we offer which can be implemented autonomously or with our assistance.

Employee Health Promotion

The past 5 years have seen a dramatic increase in the focus on injury prevention and health maintenance during sport, recreation, and leisure activities. At Therapeutic Associates’ Work Kinetics, we offer a variety of health promotion services to help employees understand how musculoskeletal injuries occur and how easily they can be prevented. Flexibility screenings, strength testing, stretch programs, and our Learning Lunch series are provided by physical and occupational therapists who are passionate about sharing their knowledge of fitness, sport, and injury prevention.

Ergonomic Analysis

  • Assessment and documentation of the physical demands and ergonomic risk factors of a job or job task
  • Identification of risk factors with prioritized recommendations for modification of work behaviors/practices, engineering controls, and administrative controls

  • Systematic post assessment follow-up with employer management team ensures success

Education and Training

  • Instruction provided by knowledgeable and enthusiastic physical and occupational therapists
  • Customized training in safety, body mechanics and ergonomics can be conveniently scheduled on-site

Job Description Development

  • Complies with ADA and EEOC regulations
  • Details essential and non-essential job demands using Department of Labor terminology in language that is definable by industry
  • Facilitates development of modified and transitional duty programs and expedites return to work

Functional Agility/Preplacement Screening

  • Determines whether an individual with a conditional offer of employment is physically capable of performing a particular job
  • Testing protocol incorporates a series of physical tests based on essential job demands and abilities of current employees

Safety/Ergonomic Team Development

  • Includes participants from various levels of labor and management
  • Utilizes proven strategies for injury prevention and management
  • Reduces known injury risks, provides ongoing training and education, and reinforces responsibility of the worker for maintaining healthy work habits
  • Consultation available for team development, program implementation, and facilitation of continuous improvement

Stretch Programs

  • Emphasizes safe stretching techniques for body parts most affected by the essential job demands
  • Instruction by knowledgeable and enthusiastic physical and occupational therapists
  • Stretch routines are customized to be appropriate for all job types

Return to Work Programs

  • Assessment of physical layout of work-space, equipment and tools used by the worker
  • Options explored/developed for modifying the injured workers’ job tasks
  • Development and implementation of a progression of modified or transitional jobs to systematically increase the worker’s tolerance to regular job demands
  • Goals established to minimize lost time and productivity while expediting safe return to work without risk of reinjury or injury to other body parts
  • Services provided on-site to meet the needs of both employee and management

Case Management Services

  • Establishes criteria and algorithms for injury claims management
  • Facilitates cohesion and communication between the worker, rehabilitation professionals, claims managers, and the employer
  • Actively involves the employer in the workers’ recovery process
