Heel Pain
Question
Dear TAI Experts:
I am a middle age man, normal weight, and for the last year I have been experiencing soreness in the heel of my left foot. It is quite tender to point pressure but otherwise it variably aches (dull not sharp) while walking. I have used running shoes with thick socks, which helps the pain be less. I have no pain along the arch of the foot or ball of the foot.
Answer
Sorry to hear your foot has been bothering you for so long. While I cannot comment on your condition specifically without an examination, I can make some general recommendations. Symptoms such as you have described can be related to foot mechanics, including stiff areas in the feet, weaknesses in the legs, and build up of scar tissue. Heel pain is sometimes also related to the lumbar spine, hips, and knees. I would recommend you follow up with a physical therapist or physician to have your foot evaluated. Your physical therapist can help facilitate a healing process and get you back to walking without foot pain.
