Neck and Chest Cramping

Question

Dear TAI Experts:

I woke up three days ago with a cramp in my neck on the left side. The next day my shoulder and down my back and up around to my chest under my arm on the left also. When I cough my chest hurts badly. Can you tell me what could this be?  P.S. My wrist bone on the right side started hurting like someone hit it with a hammer two days ago also.

Answer

I am really sorry to hear about your problems. Without completing an examination I am not able to speculate on your specific condition. A thorough examination would be necessary to determine the relation and the origin of the different symptoms that you are presenting. Pain experienced in the neck/shoulder/chest region that is exacerbated by coughing can have a multitude of sources, such as your muscles, nerves, lung, heart, etc. I would recommend that you consult a health care professional, such as your primary care physician, who will determine what is the best course of action to address your condition. Worsening of your symptoms would warrant immediate attention.
