Chris Ramsey, PT, DPT, OCS

Staff Therapist: Bethany Physical Therapy

After practicing physical therapy in the greater Boston area for nearly a decade, Dr. Chris Ramsey relocated to Oregon in 2009. During those years he provided instrumental rehabilitation to professional, Olympic, elite, and amateur athletes across a range of sports, including triathlon, duathlon, rowing, volleyball, track and field, and Nordic skiing. Dr Ramsey graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado in 1996 with a degree in Kinesiology, then earned his Master and Doctoral degrees in Physical Therapy (1999 and 2004) from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. In 2009 he became a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

For 15 years Chris has coached triathletes, duathletes, and runners; working with novice and world-champion athletes alike. His athletes have lived locally and across oceans. While an undergraduate in Boulder, CO, Chris was invited to staff Dave Scott’s “Youth Triathlon Camp” for top juniors, and was assistant coach and one of the top athletes for the University of Colorado Triathlon Team. He has coached the New England triathlon group for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Team in Training” and has been a guest speaker for them, as well as the MIT Triathlon Team, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. His skills and knowledge have been sought for consultation by companies such as FitWerx, Kohler, Motis, and B&S Fitness.

2010 will be Chris’ 19th triathlon season, racing for Boston’s Team Psycho since 1996. He has finished 13 Ironman races (PR of 9:10), more than 15 half-ironman distance races (PR of 4:10), and numerous Olympic-distance (including 9th overall at the 2003 USAT National Championships, PR of 1:55) and sprint triathlons and duathlons. A 6x qualifier for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships, he also has multiple Olympic-distance and IM 70.3 World Championships qualifications. Nationally he has qualified for the “Best of the US,” Olympic-distance, and Halfmax championships, and he continues to hold several course, bike-split, and run-split records. 2007-08 saw a return to his college days of cycling, where he placed in several criterium and road-races and won the 2008 Massachusetts Road Race State Championships. Running 8 marathons (never over 2:59) has twice seen him invited to be an official pacer for the Greater Hartford Marathon. His passion brings the pursuit of the extraordinary - in his therapy, his mentorships, and his results. In June of 2009, he and his wife welcomed their first child. Chris was formerly a professional cellist, and in his spare time he has backpacked on four continents and taught himself guitar.
