Dietary Guidance
Promotes optimizing food choices to enhance athletic performance,improve recovery within and between exercise bouts,
reduce risk of injury and illness, and develop lifelong healthy eating habits that will enhance overall health and wellness.
Nutrition Counseling
Initial consultation (90 min) is used to assess current nutrition practices and establish priorities and personal goals for individualized nutrition plan while taking into account athletic, lifestyle and other objectives.
Follow up sessions are important to offer support and help with accountability. They provide an opportunity to ask new questions, clarify concerns and continue to work toward overall nutrition goals. These sessions can be scheduled for
½ hour or one hour sessions, dependent upon needs.

Initial nutrition assessment – $95
One-hour visit – $70
1/2 hour visit – $40
Initial Package of three sessions:
Initial consult (90 min) plus 2 one hour visits – $220

Michelle received her B.S. degree in Dietetics and a B.S. degree in Kinesiology at Michigan State University. She then went on to complete her Master’s degree in Nutritional Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her dietetic internship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Before starting Active Nutrition LLC, Michelle’s graduate research focused on body composition and hydration measurements of collegiate level athletes. Michelle presented lectures on sports nutrition for an introductory nutrition class and a high school cross country camp for several years. Upon completion of her degree, she interned with Athletes’ Performance where amateur and professional athletes have individual nutrition plans developed based on body composition and performance goals.
As an athlete, Michelle competed in basketball, softball, volleyball and track in high school and went on to compete in track and field and cross country at Michigan State University. There, she was a two-time All American, Big Ten Champion, three-time Academic All American and in 2003 was awarded the George Alderton Female Athlete of the Year award. Michelle also represented Canada at 3 World Cross Country Championships.
Personally Michelle enjoys staying active through running, cycling, swimming and group exercise classes. She is married to 2008 US Olympian Matt Tegenkamp who continues to compete in Track and Field. She enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her friends, family and 2 dogs, Bosch and Bailey.
