Marsha Melnick PT, PhD

Marsha received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco and her Doctor of Philosophy in Anatomy from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has worked throughout her career with children and adults with neurological disorders.
For most of her career, she has been an educator. She is a Clinical Professor at University of California, San Francisco/ San Francisco State University. She still teaches in the areas of Motor Control and Vestibular Dysfunction. Her research has focused on physical therapy interventions for those with Parkinson’s Disease, and she presently has a National Institute of Health grant to study the use of computerized technology for rehabilitation or Wii-hab.
Marsha has predominantly retired but enjoys physical therapy enough to continue to work part time. She is fascinated by the ability of the brain to adapt to injury or disease and to be a part of hastening and improving that adaptation process. There is no better feeling of pleasure than watching a person return to regular activities.
