Women’s Health: Liberty Lake Physical Therapy
We offer a range of treatment options for you to receive specialized care for Women’s Health, including pelvic pain, urge incontinence, and stress incontinence with Diana Smith, PT.
What to Expect
Diana is specially trained in Women’s Health and the treatment of conditions involving the pelvic floor. Your evaluation and treatment will be customized to meet your needs and may include:
Examination
Internal and external exams that vary from an ordinary pelvic exam provided by an Obstetrician. We assess your muscle strength, tone, and symmetry of the pelvic floor which are often the primary contributors to symptoms.
Biofeedback Training
Non invasive and painless, this provides visual input when contracting or relaxing the pelvic floor. The recording of muscle tone/activity will help improve overall recruitment of the muscle.
Muscle Stimulation
With the assistance of a machine and sensor, stimulation is sent to the pelvic floor muscles when a contraction cannot be produced or exercise alone does not improve strength.
Goals
Our goal is to help you decrease, control and eliminate the symptoms which prevent you from enjoying your life by discerning the causes of your condition and treating underlying causes and teaching you strategies to restore your confidence.
Throughout treatment, you will receive a caring and supportive environment to foster your confidence and education. This will include individual assessment and instruction to improve bladder control, decrease frequent urges, and reduce pelvic pain. The pelvic floor muscles serve several purposes to support organs, promote and allow elimination, and allow for sexual function. With a lower back or hip injury, patients sometimes notice changes in bladder control as muscle groups support the same areas and lend additional support to the pelvis. In these instances, you can experience more rapid and thorough progress back to your goals with the incorporation of pelvic floor treatment.
