Debilitating Neck Pain

Question:

Dear TAI Experts: This is the third time in about eight years that I have woken up with debilitating neck pain. I haven't been in any crashes and cannot think of any trigger. I can hardly get out of bed and must hold my head straight to stand up. Once standing I can only move my head a slight bit left, right, up, down, etc, without intense pain. Ibuprofen and heat loosen it up but not enough to function properly. After about five days it subsides, but I cannot return to sports until almost two weeks. The first time this happened, I saw a chiropractor and massage therapist and both said I had poor posture and stress but could not say what brought this about suddenly and with such severity. I woke up yesterday with the same thing. What should I do and how can I prevent this?  Thanks! ... read more »

Continued Neck And Back Pain After Whiplash Injury

Question:

Dear TAI Experts: I was in an accident 3 months ago and suffered whiplash, but still am having pain in my shoulders, back, and the back of my neck. I feel weak and fatigued all the time. I do therapy twice a week and chiropractor twice, and it all seemed to be helping, but I don’t feel any better. What else can I do to help with the pain? Sometimes it's unbearable. I’m on muscle relaxers but even they don't seem to be cutting it. I only had x-rays done, no MRI or CT. They told me I just overstretched everything. Can you give me some better advice on what to do please. ... read more »

He said that's the normal healing process. I ride a racing bike A level... now I can only ride for about 45 minutes @ c level before the neck pain gets too severe. How long before I can get back to where I was prior the surgery and how should I train? Should I use an upright bike or a recumbent until the pain subsides? Thanks. ... read more »
