Acuity: Statistics show that patients respond better to physical therapy intervention the sooner they are seen following the onset of injury. In addition, there are numerous case studies showing this trend in the literature. It is evident that sending patients to physical therapy as a first line of care results in better outcomes and fewer lost work days.

In addition, we pride ourselves on getting our patients back to full function as quickly as possible. This includes getting our patients back to work without missing valuable work time. Our patients’ average work days lost is well below the Regional Network and National Network averages.
Considerations for Referral
Function Limitations:
- Dysfunctional gait pattern
- Limited Range of Motion
- Decreased strength
- Weight bearing tolerance limited by pain
- Frequent falls
- Inability to perform functional activities
- Inability to participate in activity
- Range of motion limited by pain
- Interrupted sleep due to symptoms
- Limited work tolerance
Surgical / Trauma Conditions:
- Pre/Post surgical exercise
- Prolonged utilization of assistive device
- Pain with exercise/Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Prolonged positioning
- Post surgical muscle spasm or joint stiffness
- Cervical or upper extremity weakness
- Functional training
