Question:
Dear TAI Experts:
I hurt my wrist (I woke up one day and it felt like it was sprained) over three months ago and when I do little things to it, it hurts to bend it, like I sprained it all over again. I went to the doctor and she made me bend my hands inward against each other, but that day everything was ok. Today I tried to do the same thing and it hurts. Also I started to notice a little bump when I bent my hand. The bump feels hard like a bone and it doesn't hurt when I touch it. I am not able to do push ups anymore because I can't extend my arm completely due to the pain in my wrist. What should I do, where should I go next? Thanks.

It is the time of year when many cyclists start to look forward to increasing their time on the bike. Many of us ride for fitness while others have specific goals, like riding Cycle Oregon or the Washington Bicycle Ride. Regardless of the cyclist’s goals, it is extremely frustrating to be held back due to discomfort or injury. Cycling is a wonderful activity if we can stay healthy on the bike. As a professional bike fitter for the past 15 years, I have seen a significant amount of injures on the bike. Most of the injuries were preventable and can ...

Questions
Dear TAI Experts:
I dislocated the IP joint in my thumb. The hospital set it back in place and the x-rays looked good to the doctor. It's been about ten days. I have blood flow, sensitivity and some range of motion so I think it is healing properly with very little pain. What kind of therapy can I do to get it healing faster? Is it O.K. to push/bend my thumb gently to keep my range of motion? Should I keep it in a splint without moving it? Again: I have some range of motion and very little pain. Please advise.

Question
Dear TAI Experts:
I dislocated the tip of my left thumb during an accident two and a half weeks ago. It was set back in place at the emergency room. I wore a splint for a week and now I would like to start physical therapy. Is it too early to begin stretching my ligaments and trying to regain flexibilty in my thumb? Also, what are some exercises I can do while at work or home to strengthen my injured joint?

Question
Dear TAI Experts:
I injured my wrist two months ago when I fell off my bike and landed directly on my wrist. I had one x-ray which was clear while under evaluation, although they suspected a scaphoid fracture, and I was informed it was sprained. However, if I move my wrist up and down (as if I was shaking hands from my wrist), the movement causes a loud, hollow clicking sound and the joint feels slightly less stable when making that movement. Should I get my wrist evaluated by a physician again? What sort of injury could this be and what can I do to prevent long term damage?
