Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy - Canby

Opening our doors with dedication to the Canby community.

A vibrant city nestled in the heart of Oregon’s richest farmland, Canby boasts the best of what a small town offers, with a tight-knit community, stunning views and endless options for fun. With a geographic footprint of just under 4 square miles and a population of about 18,000, Canby is a place where businesses, neighbors, friends and strangers come together to support one another.

For physical therapist and practice manager Andrew Carlson, opening the clinic doors at Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy – Canby means having an opportunity to be an important resource to this community, to support the people and families who call it home.

“We are lucky to be downtown Canby in this beautiful new location in the Dahlia building,” Andrew said, noting the clinic’s wide open gym space illuminated by natural light pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows along one wall.

Boasting all new, state-of-the-art exercise equipment and optimally positioned mirrors, the gym offers a functional, supportive environment designed to promote successful rehabilitation, recovery and overall wellness. Private treatment rooms offer a quiet space for individual consultation, education and one-on-one treatment.

“At Therapeutic Associates in Canby we treat the full spectrum of patients. So that is from young children to high-school-aged athletes, college athletes … we work a lot with adults who might be dealing with aches and pains from their 9-to-5 or weekend warriors,” Andrew explained. “We also really value the treatment we can offer for older adults who are navigating the age-related pains that naturally come.”

The team at Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy – Canby is passionate about building relationships with every patient.

“My favorite part about being a physical therapist is the relationships that I get to build with the people that come in here,” Andrew said. “I really get to know the patients I’m working with. I get to see them throughout their plan of care, usually on a weekly basis. And that means getting to know more than their injury — What motivates them? Who’s in their family? What is their job? What kind of things do they like to do on the weekend when they’re not in physical therapy?”

When someone walks through the clinic doors, Andrew said, they can expect to be listened to and to have a nice long conversation.

“We want to get to know you, to understand what’s important to you, what motivates you, what your goals are and how we can help you reach them,” he explained. “You’re going to develop a teammate in your health care. At Therapeutic Associates we really feel strongly in a shared decision-making process, so I will provide you with what I think will be most beneficial for you, and then it’s our role together to decide how we’re going to implement that into your recovery.”

Patients are so much more than their injury, and there is so much more to the patient experience than pain, Andrew emphasized.

“A really important aspect of physical therapy care is that you develop a relationship that goes beyond the impairment. There are so many other factors that go into the pain experience that if we’re only addressing issues from the tissue level or the segmental joint level, then we aren’t really encompassing everything that we need to in order to provide the best care.”

Whether a patient is rehabilitating after an injury, is working to alleviate nagging or chronic pain, is addressing vestibular symptoms, or is pursuing improved athletic performance, the team at Therapeutic Associates looks forward to helping them reach their goals.

“We’re going to be there to support you on your journey,” Andrew said. “Our goal is for you to reach yours, and after you complete your course of care, to know you have a new partner on your healthcare team that you can call on anytime.”

We look forward to being a part of your healthcare team.
