Prioritize Your Wellness During National Women’s Health Week

National Women’s Health Week (May 11–17, 2025) is a reminder for women to prioritize their well-being — physically, mentally, and emotionally. This year’s theme, “Prioritizing Women’s Health: Caring for Mind and Body,” encourages women of all ages, backgrounds, and identities to take charge of their health and build habits that support long-term wellness.

At Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy, we’re here to support you on that journey — with personalized care that helps you move better, feel stronger, and live fully.

3 health topics women should know about in 2025

Every May, beginning on Mother’s Day, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office on Women’s Health (OWH) leads National Women’s Health Week (NWHW). This year’s observance highlights three important areas of women’s health:

Menopause Awareness

More than 1 million women in the U.S. enter menopause each year, often experiencing symptoms like joint pain, balance issues, and fatigue. Physical therapy can ease the transition by addressing muscle loss, improving bone density through strength training, enhancing mobility, and reducing fall risk with targeted balance exercises — helping you stay active and confident through midlife and beyond.

Mental Health Suport

Women are nearly twice as likely as men to experience depression, and about 1 in 5 new mothers face postpartum mood disorders. When pain, injury, or fatigue make exercise feel out of reach, physical therapists offer a safe, personalized path forward. From gentle stretching to structured strengthening, PT can help you reintroduce movement in a supportive environment — boosting both physical and emotional resilience.

Cancer Risk and Recovery

Cancer is the second leading cause of death among women, and treatment recovery can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Physical therapy can play a vital role in survivorship by helping women regain strength, reduce post-treatment fatigue, improve range of motion, and address complications like lymphedema. PT is often a key step in returning to everyday life after cancer.

How PT supports women at every stage

As these health topics highlight, physical therapy can be a powerful tool for lifelong wellness. But its benefits extend well beyond any single diagnosis or condition. Our physical therapists are here to meet you where you are — offering support that evolves with your needs across every life stage.

Common women’s health needs our physical therapists can help you with:

  • Menopause care – Manage joint stiffness, bone loss, and changes in balance or strength.
  • Injury prevention – Stay pain-free while running, hiking, or lifting with movement strategies tailored to your body.

Our approach is whole-body, inclusive, and collaborative. We take the time to listen, assess, and create a care plan that fits your goals and life.
