Physical Therapist

Maria graduated with her Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Creighton University in May 2013 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Combined Sciences from Santa Clara University in 2008. Maria worked as a physical therapist in acute care for over a year at Oregon Health & Science University before deciding to pursue a career in outpatient orthopedics with Therapeutic Associates.

Maria is focusing her continuing education on orthopedic manual therapy through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and has a special interest in aquatic therapy, treatment of chronic pain and pain education, and implementation of yoga principles into orthopedic physical therapy. She is a certified yoga instructor and has focused her training on alignment based yoga. Maria applies this set of knowledge and skills in combination with manual therapy techniques and exercise to promote healing, health and well-being both physically and mentally. She also enjoys helping those that have an interest in starting or progressing through their yoga practice post injury and/or surgery. She is passionate about motivating and helping others reach their goals with focus on promoting joint and tissue health, and injury prevention.

Maria is originally from Ecuador and is a native Spanish speaker, and enjoys treating the Hispanic population. In her free time, Maria enjoys the outdoors especially hiking and camping in the Pacific NW, running, yoga, traveling, and spending time with her husband.
