Aubree Benson - Therapeutic Associates Northeast Portland Physical Therapy

Aubree Benson, PT, DPT

Clinic Director | Physical Therapist

Aubree graduated with honors from Saint Mary’s College of California with a BS in Health Science in 1999. She was a member of the Women’s Varsity Cross Country and Lacrosse teams. In 2003, she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon and began working at Therapeutic Associates. Aubree is continuing her post-doctoral education with the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.

In her leisure time, Aubree involves herself in various outdoor activities, including running, biking, and hiking. In 2002, she participated in the Portland marathon as a team-in-training member, raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She ran the Boston marathon in 2004 and has completed several marathons since. She also enjoys participating in duathlons.

Aubree has a significant amount of experience treating a wide variety of orthopedic musculoskeletal and neuromuscular injuries and disorders. Due to her personal interests and hobbies, she has a special interest in working with runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes of all skill levels and ages.

Jens Matson, PT, DPT

Jens graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Creighton University in May, 2014. Currently, Jens is in his final year of a post-doctoral residency in orthopedics as he pursues board certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. In addition to his residency, he has pursued further education in orthopedic manual therapy and is a Certified Manual Therapist (CMPT) through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.

Jens’ passion for physical therapy resides in being able to establish a personal connection with each patient he treats. He utilizes a patient-centered approach and strives to establish individualized treatment plans for each patient, with consideration and focus for the unique needs and personal goals of each individual. He specializes in manual therapy, sports and orthopaedic rehabilitation, and has special interest in the care of patients affected by post-concussion syndrome. Jens received his Bachelor of Arts degree as a double major in Exercise Physiology and Studio Art from Saint Olaf College in 2010 where he was also a member of the Nordic Ski team. Jens enjoys spending his free time outdoors throughout the Pacific Northwest – especially going skiing, golfing, camping, and hiking with his wife, Maria.

Tim Valenti

Tim Valenti, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Tim completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Davis and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University Oregon. An avid cyclist, distance swimmer, and Division 1 collegiate triathlete, his extensive background in athletics and movement science complement his clinical skills in orthopedic manual therapy.

Tim enjoys working one-on-one with his patients to develop individualized treatment programs aimed at helping them reach their goals. Tim’s clinical interests include treating orthopedic conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation, and sports injuries with a focus on preventative care. He utilizes a patient-centered approach with an emphasis on manual therapy techniques and exercise progression.

When not in the clinic Tim can be found cooking, gardening or riding his cyclocross bike around Portland.

Donica Schmidt, L.Ac, Dipl. Ac, MATCM

Licensed Acupuncturist*

Donica Schmidt is the founder and owner of DS Acupuncture. She received with honors a Master of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University in California. Shortly after, she moved to Portland to continue practicing. Before this, she graduated with a BFA in Dance through California State University, Long Beach.

Movement of the body lead Donica’s curiosity to yoga. She received her 200-hour Yoga Certification in 2008 and has been practicing and teaching yoga ever since. She has also invested time studying other forms of physical healing through Thai Yoga Massage, the MELT Method, and various forms of Tai Chi.
