It’s about a healthy baby, and now a healthy you
Our therapists are passionate about post-partum care. Your body goes through a lot before, during, and after pregnancy. We are here to help you understand and navigate the changes in your body so that you can get back to your optimal function. We have developed a one-hour post-partum screening examination with a trained physical therapist that targets you and your specific questions and/or symptoms. We focus on posture and alignment, instruct you on targeted exercises for your pelvic floor and abdominals, show you how to lift and move with your baby, and come up with a safe plan to help you return to your previous fitness routines. Utilizing rehabilitative ultrasound imaging, biofeedback, and manual-and exercise-based therapy techniques, we address the body as a whole and help you get back to your optimal function.
Ideal for women looking to treat or prevent:
- Pelvic floor dysfunctions following perineal tearing or episiotomy
- Diastasis recti or the mid-line separation of the abdominals
- Scar management following cesarean delivery
- Urinary or fecal leakage
- Tailbone pain
- Low back, sacral, hip, or pubic pain
- Neck, shoulder, or wrist pain
- Pain with intercourse/orgasm
- Incomplete emptying
- Constipation
- Uterine, rectal, bladder prolapse
Ultrasound imaging
Ultrasound imaging is probably most known for its use in examining the developing fetus during pregnancy. Now it is used to see important muscles – including your core. In the treatment of low back pain and pelvic pain, the therapist is able to examine your core muscles, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, bladder, and back muscles in real time. We can determine if your core stabilizers are working for you. It takes the guess work out of the separation of the abdominals.
