Orthotics

There are two vital components in ensuring an Orthotic does what it is supposed to do; making sure the orthotic adapts to the user’s foot and making sure the user adapts to the orthotic! It’s a two way street and both need to be addressed with individualized specificity. At the end of a comprehensive evaluation we will be able to determine:

What biomechanical deficits that you present with that are best corrected by a custom built orthotic
What biomechanical deficiencies do you present with that are best addressed by a cluster of corrective exercises to provide strength where you have weakness, flexibility where you have tension, stability where you have instability and mobility where you have stiffness.

See below for our Orthotic Program options.

Package 1: Do I need orthotics?

If you’re considering orthotics as a solution, but are not quite sure if it’s the correct direction to go, let us help you answer this question first.

Visit 1:
You will get a comprehensive, 60 minute full body evaluation by one of our physical therapists. You will also spend 40 minutes in the Motion Lab doing a full battery of testing to look at plantar pressure mapping under your feet as your walk and/or run, 3D motion analysis of your entire body, spinal posture and movement mechanics and EMG studies (if needed). The outcome of this comprehensive process will help us determine if orthotics are a good option for you and will end with you learning a cluster of corrective exercises to address issues uncovered during the physical therapy evaluation and motion lab testing.

Visit 2:
If the outcome of the first visit is to proceed with orthotic fabrication, this visit focuses fully on building your customized orthotic. At this visit we will take 3D scans of your feet, do a more specific biomechanical foot evaluation and discuss orthotic options. 3D scans, results from biomechanical foot evaluation and orthotic design elements will be sent to our fabrication lab at the end of this visit. We will also review corrective exercises you were given at your first visit, if needed.

Visit 3:
Our lab has a 1-2 week turn around time. We will normally schedule this last visit 2 weeks after the second to ensure your orthotics have arrived and are ready for fitting. This will be a 30-40 minute visit, fitting the orthotics and fine tuning corrective exercises.

Visit 2:
