Matt grew up in Newberg and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from George Fox University. Growing up, he looked up to his parents who were both teachers. His Father was a professor of organizational leadership and management, and his mother was a preschool teacher. Matt started working out with his father at George Fox at a young age and saw how it could shape people’s confidence and help them flourish in all aspects of life. During his time at George Fox University, he worked alongside DPT Professors conducting and analyzing research on how exercise affects an individual’s self-efficacy, depression and anxiety. From there Matt knew that he wanted to work alongside Physical Therapists and help people post rehab.
Matt is passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals and those managing conditions like Osteoporosis and EDS. He believes that thoughtful, progressive training can meet people exactly where they are. His coaching philosophy is simple: every person has an athlete inside them. Whether it’s through building strength, improving daily function, or just feeling more confident, he’s committed to helping you get 1% better every single day.
When he’s not in the gym, Matt loves exploring new restaurants, finding new hikes, or spending quality time with friends and family.
