Michelle Mailloux is a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) with nearly 10 years of experience in the field, including four years as a licensed practitioner. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, a CAPTE-accredited institution, and is currently licensed in both Massachusetts and Oregon. In addition, Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, complemented by minors in Nutrition and Psychology.
Throughout her career, Michelle has worked with diverse populations, finding particular fulfillment in serving seniors and pediatric patients. She also has a special passion for working with dancers, focusing on both preventative care and rehabilitation for dance-related injuries. The success of her patients, no matter their age or background, is what truly brightens her professional life.
Michelle has consistently demonstrated her leadership abilities, quickly advancing to a Clinical PT Level II in her previous role. This achievement allowed her to mentor new physical therapists and serve as a clinical instructor for students in PT school, which is something she intends to do again as she furthers her career. In the past year, her commitment to excellence has been recognized with an Employee Spirit Award, celebrating her embodiment of her previous company’s mission to provide patients with the access to live, learn, work, and play.
During the pandemic, Michelle also launched a startup with a colleague that has received grants and awards, and she currently holds a U.S. Patent for an innovative mat designed to simulate outdoor terrain, enhancing balance training in a clinical setting. More recently, she became Zumba certified and plans to offer evening Zumba classes in TAI East Portland’s fitness area.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Michelle is a mover and a shaker in many different ways. She has a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she enjoys community and team dancing and creating choreography and is passionate about water sports, especially rowing. Michelle has developed quite the hiking bug, summiting Mount St. Helens shortly after her recent relocation to Washington. She enjoys both long hikes with a bit of a challenge and rewarding views at the top, as well as trail walks in forests with her fiancé and dog, trying to find mushrooms, berries and banana slugs! Drawn to the beauty and mysteriousness of the Pacific Northwest, Michelle also has a fondness for all things spooky and can’t wait to continue exploring what this area of the country has in store for her.
Favorite Dessert? My mom’s no-bake double-layer pumpkin pie!
If you could be an animal, what would you be and why? Some sort of owl, they are all so beautiful, majestic and mysterious! They also know the deep, non-disclosed mysteries of the forests and get to have a birds-eye view of from a safe vantage point, which is so interesting to me.
