This October, Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy continued our proud tradition of giving back during PT Day of Service. Across 12 regions, our teams organized meaningful projects that strengthened communities and demonstrated our core values of compassion and doing the right thing. As a proud sponsor of this year’s global initiative, TAI ambassadors led volunteer efforts that made a lasting impact — one act of service at a time.

Building Homes and Hope

In Central Oregon, our team partnered with Habitat for Humanity for a hands-on day at a home-build site. Volunteers tackled everything from cutting boards and installing siding to painting and power washing. It was more than just construction work — it was about learning, growing, and coming together as a team to help create a home for a family in need.

Nurturing Green Spaces and Growing Communities

Several of our teams focused their energy on environmental stewardship and outdoor spaces that everyone can enjoy.

The Seattle Metro team took to the shores of Green Lake, one of the city’s most beloved outdoor spaces, to collect litter and beautify the park for the thousands who visit each week.

In Eugene, teammates spent the day at GrassRoots Garden, a 2.5-acre educational farm and outdoor kitchen that supports Food for Lane County’s network. By maintaining the garden, volunteers helped ensure that fresh, healthy produce continues to grow for those who need it most.

Meanwhile, in Salem/Keizer, our team prepared young trees for winter by spreading bark mulch — a simple but impactful way to care for the community’s green spaces including Weathers Street Park, and invest in a healthier environment for years to come.

Breaking Down Barriers and Building Mobility

For the fourth year, the Portland Metro and Southwest Washington region hosted GoBabyGo build events, where volunteers assembled and customized ride-on toy cars for children with mobility-related disabilities. These adaptive cars offer young children the joy of independent movement and exploration — a gift that goes far beyond the toy itself. PTDOS ambassador Rachel Char of our Clackamas clinic shares a heartfelt reflection on the profound impact of these builds and why this work matters so deeply to our profession in her blog post about the GoBabyGo experience.

Supporting Those in Need

Acts of generosity and compassion took many forms across our footprint this year.

The Camas clinic in Southwest Washington organized a food drive for a local nonprofit, with teammates even going shopping together to ensure donation needs were met and their chosen organization was well-supported.

In Grants Pass, teammates brought smiles to families at a local Fall Festival by helping with all things pumpkins — sorting, cleaning, lining up fields, and yes, tossing the rotten ones. As one volunteer noted, “kids especially loved the pumpkin toss!”

In Southern California, our team rallied to collect therapy supplies and toys — including TheraBand, yoga mats, and putty — to support a teammate’s upcoming volunteer trip to Ecuador with Hands in Motion, extending TAI’s impact to communities far beyond our own.

Promoting Wellness and Safety

In the Tri-Cities, our team hosted a fall risk screening event, offering free community assessments to help raise awareness about safety and injury prevention. This project embodied our mission perfectly — using our clinical expertise to serve and educate our neighbors.

Reflections on Service

This year’s PT Day of Service once again demonstrated what happens when passionate people come together with a shared purpose. Through diverse projects — from building homes to preparing gardens for winter, from adapting toy cars to screening for fall risks — our teams made meaningful contributions that reflect who we are as an organization. As we continue to champion wellness, compassion, and community connection, we’re proud to support the places we call home. Together, we can make a lasting impact, one act of service at a time.
