Here’s a quick glimpse into what 9 days of training looks like for Chris Ramsey as he prepares for the Race Across the West.

Saturday (5/5):
209 miles, 11:40 ride time, Beaverton to Astoria and back

Sunday (5/6):
131 miles, 7:30 ride time, climbing and descending between Newberg and Dundee

Monday (5/7):
160 miles, 9 hr ride time, roaming on the time trial (TT) bike

Tuesday (5/8):
Off (had that backwards in the video!!)

Wednesday (5/9):
2 hr indoor ride dropped to 40 minutes as body just not ready.

Thursday (5/10):
49 miles, 2.5 hr ride, with main set alternating 30 sec sprint effort with 4.5 minute steady tempo – repeat 20 times

Friday (5/11):
26 miles & 2 hrs total, split between commuting into and home from work;  Power Lifting at work (45’)

Saturday (5/12):
84 miles, 4 hours – steady tempo effort on the TT bike

139 miles, 8:15 ride time, from The Dalles to Beaverton, via Government Camp

9 day total:
812 miles, 45.5 hrs ride time, 28,059 calories.

RAW definitely doable – now if I only add a temperature swing from 40 degrees to 110 degrees F, do it all in under 4 days, on 4 hrs of sleep per day.  Probably doable.
