Every year when National PT month arrives in October, the Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy teams across the Pacific NW rally together and join the movement to support our organization’s platinum sponsorship of Global PT Day of Service (PTDOS).
PDOS began in 2015 with a simple idea: bring clinicians, students and associated staff of the physical therapy profession together for one day dedicated to volunteering. Since then, the idea has spread across the United States and the globe and is one of Move Together’s premier programs.
This year, our participation stretched across 10 of the regions we serve and included 230 volunteers supporting 14 charitable projects.
Our diverse mix of projects included building adaptive toy cars for children with disabilities with Go Baby Go; lake, park, senior center and cemetery landscaping & clean-ups; meal service; gleaning at a local orchard with Spokane Edible Tree Project; food, clothing & toy drives; food repackaging for local food banks; and partnering with various nonprofits including Horses of Hope, Ronald McDonald House Charities and SARC to host awareness and fundraising events.
The movement behind PTDOS continues to grow each year with more countries joining the efforts and more people from around the world pledging to participate. At Therapeutic Associates PT, we are thrilled to continue to be a part of positive global change through local projects serving our communities.
