Maya grew up in eastern Washington with her parents and three younger siblings. She stayed local and attended Washington State University Tri-Cities to earn her bachelor’s in biology. She then pursued her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Montana in Missoula.
Maya grew up doing gymnastics and has a profound appreciation for the life skills this sport taught her. She loved the kinesthetic awareness aspect of the sport and eventually went on to coach new generations of gymnasts for 5 years. The love for teaching others how to use and be aware of their body translated perfectly into pursuing physical therapy as a career.
Maya has had a good mix of experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, working with a wide spectrum of diagnoses. She has worked with everything from acute injuries to post operative protocols as well as advanced neurological deficits. She has a passion for working with patients with neurological diagnoses including post stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, TBI and more. She also has experience working with patients post-amputation.
In her free time, Maya loves being outside and taking landscape photos. She is also involved in a local Crossfit gym so you can find her there most evenings.
