Sawyer grew up in Humboldt County, California. Growing up he enjoyed playing almost every sport and traveling with his family. When he was 12, he played rugby while attending school in Johannesburg, South Africa. In high school, he played football and wrestling, as well as raced mountain bikes. He also was on a swim team for 8 years and went to the junior Olympics 3 times.
In 2018, Sawyer moved to Bend to attend Central Oregon Community College. He is now working on his undergrad degree in Kinesiology at OSU Cascades and will be working in the biomechanics lab this coming spring. He hopes to pursue his doctorate in physical therapy from OSU Cascades. He enjoys fostering positive relationships with anyone he’s able to interact with, especially if he can help them towards their health and fitness goals.
In his free time, he enjoys participating in ultra marathon XC mountain bike racing, lifting weights, and playing indoor and beach volleyball. He also enjoys reading historical books and nerd out about all facets of exercise.
